July Book Haul

What’s that?

Another book haul post?

When I buy books, which is honestly pretty rare, I get really excited and want to tell everyone I can find about the super awesome books I just picked up, even if I don’t read them any time soon…. or ever.

But the month of July was a BIG book buying month for me. There was lots of down time that I would spend browsing Goodwill or Thriftbooks (one of my all time FAVORITE online used book stores. Seriously. Check them out. Not a sponsor) and ended up buying at least one book every. single. time. Luckily for my wallet and I, both of these shops have incredibly good prices on used books.

So without further ado, here are all the books I bought in July.

  1. The Flight of the Silvers – Daniel Price
    • After reading The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet by Becky Chambers, I was on the hunt for some good ‘lite’ science fiction. Non-dystopian sci-fi wasn’t something I really read a ton of prior to reading this book in particular (not that I read a ton of them before anyway) and I really wanted more so, yes, I googled it. The Flight of the Silvers was one of the titles on the list. The nearest bookstore to me didn’t have it in stock so I finally just ordered it from Thriftbooks and got it for under $4.
  2. The Lonely Hearts Hotel – Heather O’Neill
    • This one I picked up because it is the pick for this month in my IRL book club. Currently reading it, not sure how I feel… But that cover though…
  3. 10 Essential Herbs – Lalitha Thomas
    • Last month we were at my husband’s family reunion and his siblings and cousins decided to shoot off old, cheap boxes of mortar shell fireworks. My husband and I were just sitting there in our lawn chairs, minding our own business, when one of the boxes of mortars fell over and shot in our direction. Long story short, I dramatically ran away very fast and flopped on the ground, completely out of breath, and my husband calmly sought medical attention from his aunt for a deep burn on his finger. His aunt mixed up a couple herbs with honey and made a paste that healed his finger incredibly fast. This is the book she used to learn home-healing. I was inspired… #kitchenwitchgoals
  4. A Great and Terrible Beauty – Libba Bray
    • I bought he second in the series a long time ago, not knowing that it was a series the series was recommended to me and I couldn’t just start the series in the middle…
  5. Dune – Frank Herbert
    • Classic sci-fi. How could I not?
  6. – 17. Crooked House, Dead Man’s Mirror, Hickory Dickory Death, Cat Among the Pigeons, Surprise! Surprise!, Murder on the Orient Express, Curtain, The Murder of Roger Ackroyd, The Mirror Crack’d, Peril at End House, The Clocks – Agatha Christie
    • Let me start by saying, I LOVE Agatha Christie books. Love them. Okay. Last month I found myself in a Missouri town with a large Goodwill, so after dropping my husband off where he was working, naturally, I went to the Goodwill and I did not regret it. After browsing all the shelves, I found 34 Agatha Christie books. 34! Obviously I gathered all of them together and put them together on a shelf. Somehow, I restrained myself and only bought 12 of them. SUPER excited to read or reread all of these.

Buying books is one of life’s greatest joys and I am very excited to get through all of these. Eventually.

Any thoughts on which of these I should start next? Any other Agatha Christie fans out there sharing my enthusiasm?

I’d love to hear from you guys down in the comments, and I hope your reading life is outta this world ☺
